STORAGE REQUIREMENTS

Across the United States and around the world we are facing the uncertain COVID
pandemic and the COVID vaccinations are a large part of the solution.

Moderna Vaccine requires that it be stored and transported at ‐20 centigrade and TCP
has the chemical reactions to maintain ‐21 centigrade for 30 hours. The Moderna
vaccine can then be kept refrigerated from 2‐8 centigrade for 30 days.

Pfizer vaccine can be kept at ‐20 C for two weeks and can be refrigerated from 2‐8
centigrade up to 5 days.

Moderna Vaccine is stable six months at -20 centigrade and 30 days in a refrigerator.

Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine (Johnson & Johnson) recommends storage of unpunctured
multi-dose vials of the Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine at 2°C to 8°C.

A study in 2019 has shown 25% of vaccines are degraded by the time they arrive at their
destination and either discarded or offer decreased protection resulting in losses of over
34 billion dollars per year.
Vaccines need to be stored within 1 Fahrenheit of their ideal temperature.

Gel packs do not work and cannot safely maintain the required refrigerated
temperature nor the ‐21 centigrade frozen temperature.

mRNA Vaccines are Temperature Sensitive.

mRNA VACCINE TRANSPORTATION & STORAGE ISSUES

  • 11,900 vaccine doses shipped by one pharmaceutical distribution company were destroyed en
route to Michigan when gel packs made them too cold.
  • Trucks at 35 Maine sites discovered that hundreds of vaccine vials were spoiled, resulting in
    officials throwing out 4,400 doses.
  • 1,900 doses of the mRNA COVID vaccine were destroyed from improper temperature control
    at a Boston medical center.
  • Two trays of vaccines were rendered unusable due to temperature deviations from public
    health specifications in Montgomery, Alabama.
  • Thousands of vials being shipped to California and Alabama were handled improperly and
therefore rendered useless due to temperature issues.
  • In Tennessee, thousands of vaccine doses were thrown out because of storage temperature
    issues.
  • In West Palm Beach, Fla., the power on a mobile refrigerator was turned off rendering
vaccines useless. In Connecticut, a fridge door did not close properly, though the doses were
salvaged in time, in consultation with Moderna.

THERMAL CUSTOM PACKAGING SOLUTIONS

TCP’s PC-21 will precisely maintain the desired temperature and when paired with our
lightweight insulated Totes is capable of transporting properly between 350-2100 doses
of Moderna vaccine at -21 centigrade for many hours.

The same “system” by changing the PCM to TCP’s PC0 (0 centigrade) can maintain the
a refrigerated temperature that can store Moderna’s vaccine for 30 days and Pfizer’s
COVID-19 vaccine for 5 days.

Both Kaiser Permanente and Sloan Kettering use our refrigerated solutions, both Tote
and PC0, to transport Biological Pharmaceuticals and specimens.

Thermal Custom Packaging (TCP) can store and transport the
COVID mRNA COVID vaccine at ‐21 degrees Centigrade with its
proprietary PC‐21 solution.

TCP PHASE CHANGE MATERIAL SOLUTIONS

Thermal Custom Packaging (TCP) can store and transport the mRNA COVID vaccine at
-21 degrees Centigrade with its proprietary PC-21 solution. This is a full degree cooler
than what is required to safely transport the vaccine.

The ultra-cold PC-21 will precisely maintain the vaccine’s desired temperature. Stored in
the manufacturer’s insulated reusable totes (available in three sizes), it can properly
transport between 350 and 2,100 doses of the vaccine for many hours.

The same system is available in refrigerated and frozen formats.

TCP’s Phase Change Materials (PCMs) are equipped to store and release large amounts
of energy — maintaining a temperature within a specific range. PCMs can reliably
maintain 0-degree Centigrade (refrigerated), -7-degree Centigrade (frozen), -16-
degree Centigrade (frozen), and 21-degree Centigrade (ultra-cold) temperatures
depending on the application.

TCP’s PC0 can maintain the refrigerated temperature needed to store thawed /
refrigerated mRNA COVID vaccine for 30 days with appropriate totes and recharged
PCM’s.

Both the largest nonprofit hospital and the top-rated oncology hospital in the United
States rely on TCP’s refrigerated and frozen solutions to transport Biological
Pharmaceuticals and other medically relevant specimens.

The latter’s testing shows an average temperature of -20.9 degrees Centigrade in TCP’s
large tote for 30 hours.

TCP PHASE CHANGE MATERIAL SAFETY

The PC-21 is considered a safe, non-toxic alternative to dry ice – which has made
headlines in December 2020 due to its inherent risk in storing mRNA Covid vaccinations.

Fire departments anticipate a spike in incidents involving the transport of dry ice, as the
material presents a significant fire hazard.

Dye ice, stored in a closed environment can cause severe burns, explosions, and death
from CO2 gases.

From the distribution point out into the field, the PC-21 offers a complete solution for
transporting the vaccine.

TCP PRODUCT USAGE

Enter TCP’s Phase Change Materials (PCMs), which can reliably maintain refrigerated,
frozen, and ultra-cold mRNA COVID vaccine temperatures depending on the application.

Due to their effectiveness, TCP’s PCMs are now being used to safely transport and store
vaccines to a number of new sites across the United States:

  • TCP’s PCMs are now used by the Los Angeles Public School system, helping to
transport the mRNA COVID vaccine to 12 vaccination clinics from their central
    facility.
  • Fire Chief Terry Abel needed to transport the mRNA COVID vaccine at -20
degrees Centigrade from more than three hours away to Islamorada, Florida
    firehouse freezers.
  • The Monroe County Health Department in Florida now trusts TCP to refrigerate
    their vaccines at various sites.
  • TCP currently provides the insulated totes and PCMs needed by the State of
California hospital system to move mRNA COVID vaccines at the proper
    temperature.

Throughout, TCP leverages data loggers to maintain mRNA COVID vaccine temperature
records.

Target locations include rural areas, retirement communities, and the residences of those
unable to visit a hospital for vaccination. TCP will also serve third-world countries,
ensuring even the most remote villages have access to mRNA Covid vaccination and
treatment solutions.

Both the largest nonprofit hospital and the top-rated oncology hospital in the United
States rely on TCP’s refrigerated and frozen solutions to transport Biological
Pharmaceuticals and other medically relevant specimens on a daily basis.

The latter’s testing shows an average temperature of -20.9 degrees Centigrade in TCP’s
large tote for 30 hours.

ABOUT THERMAL CUSTOM PACKAGING

Thermal Custom Packaging (TCP) is a medical product manufacturer — specializing in
cold-chain transport solutions, insulated containers (totes), and the chemical reactions
that maintain them. TCP’s products move over 250,000 blood specimens, organs,
antibiotics, and Covid tests daily.

The Florida-based manufacturer is the force behind the PC-21, the latest transport
technology for COVID-19 vaccines and antibiotics — frozen without dry ice. Many of
the world’s largest healthcare services rely on TCP solutions to maintain safe and
efficient work environments and communities.

“Thermal Custom Packaging is run by doctors who understand medical needs in the
field,” says Dr. Glade, Director of TCP. “I am a doctor, as are many of my staff. All of
our products are tested out in the field, reviewed, and modified until they meet our
expectations.”
